NS 3986 (B23-7) in the weeds on the Pine Belt Southern
Title:  NS 3986 (B23-7) in the weeds on the Pine Belt Southern
Description:  NS 3986 (B23-7) isn't all that remarkable except for the fact that a painter has spent this entire day repainting the handrails with yellow enamel. This is some of the best looking trackage between Opelika and LaFayette, AL and this locomotive has run thru brush and small trees on its final run to Opelika. The junction switch with CSX has been removed due to inactivity and before this leased diesel can be returned to the Norfolk Southern in Opelika, the junction switch must be replaced. While waiting the CSX Roadway Department to finish that project, cosmetic repairs are being done to the NS 3986 to avoid damage payments. In just a few short weeks, all the former Central of Georgia "T" line will be ripped up by a railroad salvage company.

NS 3986 (B23-7) in the weeds on the Pine Belt Southern
Title:  NS 3986 (B23-7) in the weeds on the Pine Belt Southern
Description:  A light drizzle has begun to fall on the freshly repainted yellow handrails that a painter has spent all day repainting along with the locomotive steps. This unit is about to be returned to the Norfolk Southern at Opelika as soon as CSX Roadway Department re-installs junction switch with Pine Belt Southern that had been removed due to inactivity. In a few short weeks, all the former Central of Georgia/Southern Railway/Norfolk Southern "T" line trackage will be removed by a railroad salvage company
