Seaboard Coast Line (former Seaboard Air Line) depot
As perspective, this view looks due east from the U. S. Highway 29 road crossing (towards the crew change point of Americus, Georgia and the east terminus of Savannah, Georgia). Due west is the terminus of this branch, Montgomery, Alabama, and connections with interchange partners Illinois Central Gulf (former Gulf, Mobile & Ohio), Louisville & Nashville and Southern Railway

willis ford General Man I love this picture. This picture is how I rember all the little towns along the rails for the seaboard. Little small trainstation with a gondola car parked near it. 8/3/2010 10:19:52 PM

Jared Blocker General Oh man I've been looking high and low for pics of this portion when it was still active. Just imagine the same train that passed here back then went by my house near Claxton, GA. 6/29/2011 11:40:15 AM
Atlanta Rails General When was this segment abandoned? Seems like another of CSX's abandonment mistakes seeing as its pretty much a straight shot from Montgomery to Waycross (joining the Fitz in Cordele) 12/6/2011 8:18:47 PM
Eugene Cain General I believe CSX abandoned this portion around 1989. Ironically, if the City of Americus had raised that Bridge there, this route might still be in use here. Now everything runs on the Fitz!!! 7/30/2012 11:06:11 AM
